TEN BLOCKS ON THE CAMINO REAL
Our next show will be Ten Blocks On The Camino Real by Tennessee Williams, the rarely-performed, original version of the play later known as Camino Real.
After working on The Remarkable Rooming House of Madame LeMonde and American Gothic, we feel our hearts drawn back again to Tennessee. The Broadway production of Camino Real was Tennessee Williams' first big commercial failure, written at the peak of his creative prime. Years ahead of its time, it is full of mysterious symbols and iconic characters. Beau Jest has gone back to the original script and, with special permission from the estate, given the play the magical realism it deserves, creating the fantasy world of live music, dance, puppetry, poetry and humor that Tennessee first envisioned as a new kind of "plastic" theater.
